Although this isn't the closest home affairs branch, it definitely is by far the best, and worth your time to drive the little extra petrol out. Service is fast which makes for quick queue's, and staff are polite and ever ready to assist, with someone checking up on you that you got everything you wanted sorted out

One would think that the different home affairs branches were owned by completely opposite people. I've had my fair share of problems, but arriving early at the Belville branch was a wise decision, quick in and out, made my day start off on quite a good note

Giving a 1 rating for service is way to high. Sitting in an endless queue with 1 of 15 cubicles being able to help you.
The personel is lazy and rude. They have bad attitudes as if the world owes them.
This is your job, if you don't want to do it quit, there's plenty of people out there that need a job.
Great example of how useless our countries administration is. No hope for South Africa.

annoyed at service, the department of home affairs in bellville is giving me the run around for the past 4months.
ive been intouch with Adrian Fray, Tasmin Sass and Marawaan Fielies over this 4 month period and have still not received my marriage certificate
after being told it will only take 6weeks. i was also informed that since im living abroad my father may pick it up on my behalf.
i am in need of my marriage certificate because the Saudi EMbassy is in need of it asap but these people are giving me no information as to what the hell the problem is.
    someone please tell me why?????????????
my dad has been to the department several times and has called.
ive gotten 7 family members to call the department but the landlines are always busy...
what more must i do to optain my certificate???????????

The staff are very efficient and helpful. Even though they have long qeues of people every day they still try to smile and be friendly. Having avoided going for ages I was pleasantly surprised at how painlessly the process turned out to be.

On a cold rainy Cape Town Saturday, I went to apply for my passport. The sight of the queue nearly gave me a heart attack. The minute the doors opened, it was only 5 mins to the front of the queue. 5 for the application. And another 5 to pay. Within 5 working days, I received a SMS. My passport was ready. Thank you so much for being a world class facility. Bravo!

If you are anything like me, you put off going to Home Affairs for as long as possible. Let's face it, no one likes to stand around in queues all day and government departments have a reputation of sub-standard service.

That said, was I ever surprised when I went to the Bellville office! They have a very efficient system in place to prevent people cutting in line, and a bunch of benches so that you aren't standing the entire time. There are signs everywhere which make it very easy to find your way around. And they even have a few T.V's to keep you entertained while you wait.

Definitely worth a mention is that the place was very clean, and the staff both helpful and capable.
