The Kalk Bay swimming pools are absolutely fabulous to swim in!! There are two big pools and a baby pool. You can stand on the wall of either of the two bigger pools, and, if its high tide, you can dive out over the rocks and into the sea. I grew up here because my late Gran lived in Kalk Bay. I visited her on many weekends and the two of us would go down to the pools early in the morning and swim many many lengths of the longer pool. We caught many octopus here and threw them back into the sea, found many species of shells, starfish and sea anemone. The last time I tried to get to the tunnel (which you have to go under to get to Kalk Beach Beach) there was huge road construction taking place. This continued for over a year and we seriously doubted how shop owners could survive with the entrances to their shops under construction for so long.

The tidal pool is one of the worst kept secrets, but is a beauty to marvel over. If you do find it, enjoy it.
