I went in to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate and was left totally unimpressed with the attitude and service of the officer that attended to me. This is a little of how our conversation went.

*After waiting 15 minutes in the queue*
Me: 'Hi, Id like to get a Police Clearance Certificate.'
Officer: 'Sorry, the person who handles that is not in his office'
Me: 'When will they be back?'
Officer: 'He's somewhere in the building, I don't know?' (Shrugs his shoulders)
Me: 'If he's in the building, can you go find him for me?'
    *Officer disappears for a minute*
Officer: 'Sorry, I don't know where he is'
Me: 'Do you have any idea when I can come back? Is he around most of the time? Can i come back in a hour at 4?'
Officer: 'He's around sometimes and he knocks off at 4'

At which point i decided to give up and leave. I cannot help but feel that the service and professionalism lacked greatly, it is infuriating that they cannot even tell me what time i can come back so that they could assist me.

Went to report the a stolen phone with my partner over the weekend. The constable in charge was great and efficient. He gave us very interesting advice on what to do when such things happen.

I was impressed by the level of emotional intelligence displayed by the 2 Parkview police officers who visited our home. They were patient, showed interest in civilian well-being, displayed a humble attitude and had good interpersonal skills. Kudos Parkview police!

We recently had a incident at our house and Parkview police came to our residence to take statements. The officers in duty should loads of empathy and provided us sound advice.

My dad and I went to Parkview Police Station to report an accident. After battling to find parking I eventually found a space after 15 minutes (All bays were occupied by police vans - no space for the public). The staff were very unfriendly and not willing to help me in any manner, helping me seemed to be A MASSIVE effort (poor customer service). Not impressed at all.

I had to have docs certified at SAPS Parkview recently. The service I received was excellent to say the least. There were 2 female officers on duty and I was assisted immediately. The one whom was busy with my docs was called away and immediately the other lady carried on where the first officer left off. Thank you, others should be taking lessons from your efficiency.

My daughter was involved in a minor collision in the city a few days ago. Thankfully no injuries ! Proceeded to accompany her to report the accident to the police within 24 hours (as you do !). Thought we would go to the Parkview Police Station, in view of their reputation. After battling to find parking (the outside parking - what little there is - (marked "for emergency vehicles only") was populated by a motley collection of ironmongery (presumably Police staffers personal cars - certainly not emergency vehicles !), so had to park in a difficult position. Greeted by the banner "we aim to be the ...blah blah blah..." , I expected SERVICE ... only to be told by a 'posse' of police people milling about .... perhaps 'loitering' would be a good descriptor - that we could not report the accident there ... as it was outside of their area .... (really guys, why is this a factor - hey there is this amazing device called a computer that links things together and avoids paper - why not try it ?!), especially after a tough day, being "...a little tired, and a little wired .." (to quote Nicholas Cage's famous 'Gone in 60 seconds' line (and you know what happened next !) Anyhow, we left ... a little annoyed (etc) after being referred to Johannesburg Central Police Station. Strange lasting impressions ... first, they make it difficult to access the police station (staff cars should not even be parked in sight of the station ?), and why not create parallel parking bays to accommodate 'customers' !!!, and second they fob you off ... clearly taking in cases (and resolving them - outcomes), are not performance metrics in this world ! Not at all happy. There should be no brownie points for attendance ... outcomes are the issue guys ... get to it !!!!

My experience here to have documents certified was quick and easy. Apart from the dodgy street parking ( sadly even in front of the police station), all went smoothly. The service was professional, friendly and helpful.

I think we should run tighter Police Academies for Police men and women and trained thoroughly. They are also not in good shape. They don't eat heathily. African Police Men and Women are not going to chase and catch criminals eating genetically modified pap maize which is not good for them and slap chips. We need a to develop a culture of service delivery to bring down crime in SA. We should take an example from how police states in the USA are run.

Do we need to run Police Academies differently and take on healthier recruits?

Over the years, the Station has improved as has the professionalism of the officers behind the desk. Parking outside can sometimes be a squeeze, or a long walk. The community members that volunteer their services certainly deserve a round of applause; they work well with the officials and help provide an excellent service to the surrounding areas.

I feel sorry for the poor blokes who have to certify the hundreds of pages I bring in when I have to apply for a new job, but they'll always do it. Everytime.

I needed a few documents certified and found the officers friendly and helpful. It helps that there were no serious cases as you would find in Hillbrow or John Vorster.
