    I received such amazing service, from 2 friendly staff (Enias and Lebo) members from Sars. I was at the Sars office, a day before. The following day I forgot my id. I told the staff member, that I would have to go back home to collect my id. He advised that he would ask 8 security questions, of which I need to answer correctly. I was successful. Not only, was I able to get a copy of what I needed, but the staff understood the urgency.

    Amazing Service

    I received such amazing service, from 2 friendly staff (Enias and Lebo) members from Sars. I was at the Sars office, a day before. The following day I forgot my id. I told the staff member, that I would have to go back home to collect my id. He advised that he would ask 8 security questions, of which I need to answer correctly. I was successful. Not only, was I able to get a copy of what I needed, but the staff understood the urgency.

    Long queues

    3 hours in the queue and finally my number gets called. Louis is very friendly but he has just gone to do the investigation into our records. A waste of time but I need my 3 years of money

    Bad service

    I waited over an hour for service. This wouldn't have been a problem if it were busy. But it wasn't. It just seemed people weren't in the mood to work.

    If you're going to go to SARS Randburg, prepare yourself in one of two ways.
    1) Put aside a good three hours for your visit
    2) Be prepared to come back more than once

    The general feeling with this SARS Branch is that they will look for any reason to turn you away. Be prepared to make multiple trips to and from this office as the employees are not there for your best interest but rather to do as little work as possible.

    Longest. Lines. Ever.

    If you're going to go to SARS Randburg, prepare yourself in one of two ways.
    1) Put aside a good three hours for your visit
    2) Be prepared to come back more than once

    The general feeling with this SARS Branch is that they will look for any reason to turn you away. Be prepared to make multiple trips to and from this office as the employees are not there for your best interest but rather to do as little work as possible.

    The only government department that really works well, SARS is also a name that instills fear in the hearts of all tax paying South Africans - not that there are that many of us.
    I visited the Randburg branch recently to try and sort out a dispute on my tax return. The queue was long but that was to be expected. They have a pretty stupid system at the door though where they hand you one ticket to give to someone who is literally 5 steps away who takes your ticket and gives you another one which you hand to a guy just inside the main building who then gives you a number and tells you where to sit. If FNB can make a machine that tells you where to go and where you are in the queue, I'm pretty sure SARS can manage.
    The guy who helped me was fine though and I ended up getting everything sorted in the end. Just a bit of a painful process.

    frustrating

    The service was average. Queues are confusing. The advisors are well trained and helpful but after a long wait.

    Maybe I expect too much! I found the service here below par, staff not helpful and certainly not friendly.The queue was not long, but the time spent in the queue certainly was. I eventually withdrew from the queue .

    Expect More

    Maybe I expect too much! I found the service here below par, staff not helpful and certainly not friendly.The queue was not long, but the time spent in the queue certainly was. I eventually withdrew from the queue .

    I really do think the system can be improved on. Lots of people directing people to the correct counter. Is this the most efficient utilization of resources? Not quite sure. Some of my mates have had good experiences but mine was certainly not what I expected. Slow queues, unhelpfull traffice cop. The only saving grace was the consultant, whom was efficient and helpful.

    Only saving grace

    I really do think the system can be improved on. Lots of people directing people to the correct counter. Is this the most efficient utilization of resources? Not quite sure.     poor experience

    been in a queue for an hour and counting. shocking state of queueing system. reminds me of public hospitals from 30 years ago.
