Attended a rugby game here. Nice stadium in the middle of the Orlando, so make sure you walk in groups. Also if you don't have a car, when you leave an event it is difficult to Uber or call a cab because of the crowds. Despite those challenges, the stadium's facilities are nice and a great place to watch a game.

Had 2 recent visits here, one was for the Manchester United Legends match. The game was in the afternoon, and as much as the match was quiet disappointing one fore me, I was surprised that this stadium was still well maintained. Parking can be an issue for 'big' matches but you can buy prepaid parking before hand at Computicket, else you can take your chance parking on the roadside which we did. The car was safe and there are parking 'guards" around but they seem to charge there own prices and do not have a set price. When you go for a popular match and the stadium is full, the atmosphere is something you can't beat, as is with any stadium experience. But try getting refreshments, you have to choose from waiting in line and missing some of the match or watching the match and not getting anything, that's how long the queues are. Overall I have to say Ellis Park stadium experience was a good one, with the exception of the queues and being disappointed when the team you support loses.

We went to Ellis park recently and had a great time in the cheap seats. The grounds are well maintained but we had a really unfortunate experience on the way out as a drain had become blocked and burst outside in the walkway - not the best way to end the day with someone else's poo floating past your feet.
They also seriously need to sort out all the fake parking attendants who make up their own prices and get pretty aggressive when you're not willing to pay. They don't even stay to watch your car!!

Im not such a big fan of rugby so was not excited as a cricket or soccer match. As I arrived I was completely blown away by the costumes and outfits supporters wore (real die-hard fans). The fans are so passionate about their team they support and was so loud full of cheering, a truly unique and exciting experience.

Being a staunch Lions supporter it is a no brainer that this is the best stadium to watch our country's most beloved game. We usually try to arrive early and leave a little later because the traffic is not flowing all that great during big games though. Therefore I recommend you take your gas braai to have some boeries in the parking lot before the game starts. Alternatively make use of the park and ride facilities that leave from certain shopping centres. (available at Computicket)

It was an overall good experience.
What I loved most what that the parking was not too far from the stadium.

The stadium is clearly marked so you know where you are and where you are going.

The staff was also very helpful.

This place is all about the atmosphere. One of the most intimmidating stadiums for visiting international teams and the atmosphere is always electric. Buying a beer is a nightmare though and walking back to your car after the game is always a lottery. Could be improved in so many ways, but I still love it!

I've been here for Rugby and Soccer 2010 and clearly this is a rugby stadium. You will need to get in early to ensure you have good parking but the entire area is secured during big games. Avoid the area any other time.

I found going to Ellis Park a good experience, the stadium has really good facilities and easily accessible which is what you need these days as all our major stadiums in SA has been upgraded, don't mind going there again to watch the mighty Sharks take on the Lions.

I've been to the Ellis Park stadium for Rugby and Soccer matches. The entire area has been upgraded. Parking is always an issue but there are sufficient security for the big matches. It amazing how festive the entire day is, with braai's all around. The Stadium is old but remains the "Home of Rugby".

I got Season tickets this year, so yes, I've been at that stadium every game since the beginning of the year. We don't drive ourselfs, we rather pay R50 and get dropped off and picked up again instead of paying R50 to park and sitting in traffic before and after the game. The bathrooms are not to clean, but lets face it, who can keep all those bathrooms clean with that amount of people storming a place. You can see it was clean before all those people went through there. I just love the food and drinks, it makes the whole experience so much better.

Ellis Park mite not be the newest and it's not in the best part of town, but the experience is wonderful for a true rugby fan.

Recently attended the inaugural season Lions game at Ellis Park, and enjoyed the energy of the experience. The stadium itself is well designed, albeit functional and utilitarian in the main, much improved with the piazza and entrance gate upgrades effected in the past few years. However, the fact that there is still NO PARKING nor effective mass public transport to the venue and it's 'grotty' location make the journey to and from a bit of a hazardous and frustrating experience. (To the diehard rugby fanatic, no problem !?). The food vendors naturally cater for the stereotypical rugby fan - lager swilling, biltong and boerewors chewing ....no fruit juices, diet sodas or salads on these menu's - so when in Rome ....! My sense is that the locale, transport and parking, as well as the unfortunate experience some years ago of the crowd surge, really impacts upon the popularity of the venue. The really big games will ALWAYS fill the place, despite all obstacles and shortcomings !!!
