Built in the early part of the 19th Century - the theatre was originally known as the Grove Kinema. It was later re-named The Victory Theatre in honour of the Allied victory in WW2. In the 1950's a well renowned Johannesburg camera man, Mr Italo Bernicchi (famous for his works: 'African Mirror') was approached by the building's owners to screen some of his award winning camera documentaries, this move gave life to the theatre once again.

I watched Nipple Caps and G-Strings here, twice. It was a good venue for this type of a show.

I also watched Garth Taylor perform here. It was awesome, I'm a huge Garth Taylor fan and because I know he can really dance, I thought that stage was a bit limiting for his moves ;-)

The bar was very busy so you end up standing there a while.
The parking was at the back which was safe. It's got an "old" them to it and I didn't experience any problems from booking of tickets to the show's themselves.

I like that it's small as it gives it that "personal" touch, where you get to meet with the performers during intermission in the bar area, which is quite a bonus if you're huge fans.

    Good for the smaller shows/events
