The South African Military Health Service is the branch of the South African National Defence Force responsible for medical facilities and the training and deployment of all medical personnel within the force. Though unusual, as most national militaries integrate their medical structures into their existing service branches, the SANDF regards this structure as being the most efficient method of providing care and support to the SANDFs personnel.

The service at this hospital is really terrible. Staff are rude and shout at patients. When you ask about waiting times you are told to sit or leave, it is your health so your choice. Inability of staff to show any concern for sick patients or those in pain is horrible to watch. Patients complain in vain to section heads and nothing is done. There is a first come first served thing going on here, so if you are not here by 6 am you are far behind in the queue of over 150 people that arrive on a day to see a dr. The doctors only arrive some time after 8 am and then work themselves to death to get through the crowds of unhappy patients. If you are prescribed medication you must be prepared to wait another 5 hours or most times come back only tomorrow to collect. And then collection will also take a long time. Overall the worst experience I have had in my life. Such a pity that some of the staff try to help but it seems most do not care.
