Ansteys Beach, unlike other Durban beaches, is very laid back and calm, a favorite among the locals. The sand is superb and even better is the great surf. On any given day you will find a healthy amount of surfers, body boarders and kite surfers riding the waves. The water has some shallow spots which are perfect for swimmers.

Anstey's is more than a beach. It is an incredible experience from the restaurants to the diverse crowd. Although be cautious that although it is a large beach, during the festive periods you will need to book your spots as early as possible as the beach is very busy during this period with an incredible athmosphere.

This beach is well protected form the wind so it is great all year round, surfing conditions are fantastic and the swimming pool area is the best for children. It hardly ever gets overcrowded and it is well looked after, clean and safe with easy accessibility.

Ansteys beach is one of the nicest beaches for surfers as it is protected by the Bluff and generally you can escape the wind. It is easily accessible, fairly clean and very safe due to the vast amount of people that go there. The facilities are good and awesome for children. A great beach for a family outing but come early to get parking!!!

It's quiete a nice beach if you live in the south of durban, usually quiete with a few fisherman unless you go during the holidays, it's a nice place to take your kids because they have a swimming pool area.

I absolutely love this beach, But I may be bias as I grew up on the bluff and this was my regular hang out spot, the beach has changed a little since I was there last but it still offers a beautiful unspoilt beach, with some of the best surfing conditions in Durban. There are always lifeguards on duty during the day which gives you a safe feeling while swimming. There is paddle pools with quite a big picnic area with toilets/change rooms, there is not a lot to choose from when it comes to shops or fast foods which is why we like to take our braai and find a spot and enjoy the day braaing.

If you continue along foreshore drive you will come to Cave Rock which is a well-known surfing spot in Durban, and then you will come to Brighton beach which also has paddle pools and a tidal pool (seawater pool) and hosts "Lords and Legends" which is a Sports bar and grill which offers a good lunch menu at a reasonable price, and then you get Treasure beach which has amazing rock pools that the children can explore during the low tide.

This beach has a true locals only feel to it... The swimming conditions are awesome with great wave most of the time the tiolets are unfortunately quite dirty and there is not much choice for restuarants so maybe the best idea is to do the whole braai deal.......

Ansteys Beach has the feeling of "old Durban" attached to it, and not saying that in a bad way. I went down there about a month ago and had a braai in those same spots - picnic spots on the grass that have been around for years. Toilets where filthy but that has not changed.
