With all the hype on TV and over the radio's about the different institutions, University of KZN has remained out of the spotlight. They are the one kind of learning institution that at least trys to keep their noses clean in terms of not getting all involved and staying under the radar. The place is well maintained and the educators are friendly. I have found it to be a peaceful environment and one worthy of looking at to send your children too.

Excellent facilities and especially large campus's, I have rather fond memories of walking from one side to the other for classes. It's not as safe as it used to be when I attended but the security has been beefed up which is good. The faculty and facilities when I attended where excellent especially the lecturers, they went the extra mile for you.

Great location and a beautiful university but unfortunately there is too much striking and toy-toying which means that the students never get a full day of lectures done, plus on touring the grounds I found the toilets filled with disgusting graffiti (could they not have at least cleaned up for open day?) and so filthy, there were crowds like I have never seen before and this University did not strike me as the place I wanted my fresh out of high school daughter to go to.
However I do know of somebody who went there and their Engineering class was packed to capacity in the first year, the second year it dwindled to a few hundred and by the third year hardly any students were attending lectures. Of course by the fourth year you could count the students on two hands. Plus many days of really important lectures were missed due to the violence displayed at this University.
I am sad to say it is not a safe place to get a degree although they have the most fantastic courses, it is a real pity.

I completed my B A Degree at UKZN; it's a fantastic University. I had three memorable years at this campus; the staff, variety of courses offered and learning environment is great.

I enjoyed my years spent at UKZN thoroughly! Although those years were not short of the students that kept getting most of their demands met by STRIKING or TOY-TOYING as they would put it. All it meant for us, normal students, was end of days lesson at 10am in the morning! It was great fun! The mini donuts, pop corn and hot chocolate vendors were particularly busy on the cold days, and the popped corn from there was the most delicious popcorn i have ever tasted! The campus experience was a great one! I miss it!
